The Hunger Games Racks in $155 Opening Weekend!

The film will gross a historic $155 million in its opening-weekend box-office debut, its studio estimated this morning.

The Friday-Sunday take is the third-biggest in Hollywood history, blowing past the blockbuster hauls of the Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean and Twilight movies, among others.

The film opened at midnight Friday, taking in nearly $20 million from those screenings alone. By the end of its first day, it had collected $68 million, the fifth-biggest single and opening-day grosses ever. On Saturday, it collected another $51 million. Lionsgate was calling for a $36 million Sunday.

Internationally, the film was just as strong, opening No. 1 in nearly every market it played, the studio said, and grossing a combined $59.3 million.

The final tally on The Hunger Games' three-day, worldwide haul: $214.3 million.

The first sequel, Catching Fire, is already in the works, and set for a November 2013 release.

Kim Kardashian Flour Bombed!

Kim Kardashian was attending an event to support her new fragrance True Reflection when a woman broke through security and poured a bag of flour on Kim's head.

Kim, unharmed, was quickly whisked away from the powdery scene, which all took place at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. The woman who threw the flour, rumored to be an anti-fur activist, was detained by security, and the fire department and paramedics were called to the event as a precaution. After determining the substance was not dangerous and just flour, they left the hotel.

Ever the professional, Kim shook off the excess, dusted her shoulders off and headed back to the event. She told E! with a laugh, “That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me. Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that’s a whole lot of translucent powder right there.”

Reality star will press charges against her attacker. “I said earlier no I wasn’t [going to file a complaint],” Kim told E! Online. “I am just going to think about it, because I don’t want someone to think they can really get away with that. So we are going to handle that.”

TMZ reports that Kim will contact law enforcement in the next few days to tell them she wants to press charges. According to their source, Kim wants to send the message that people are entitled to their opinion but should not resort to violence to have their voices heard.

Hilary Duff Gives Birth To Baby Boy

The 24-year-old welcomed her first child with her husband Mike Comrie on Tuesday evening, she confirmed on Twitter. She says they feel like the "luckiest parents in the world." 


"Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie!" Duff tweeted, noting that he arrived "healthy" and "beautiful," weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

"We are overjoyed...He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well."

Whitney Houston Cause of Death Revealed

The L.A. County Coroner has determined Whitney Houston‘s cause of death. According to TMZ, the official cause of death is listed as accidental drowning, although other factors are listed as contributing factors.

The report states that heart disease and cocaine use also played a part in her death.  

Whitney was discovered in the bathroom of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton last month, where investigators also found prescription pills. 

Traces of marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril and Benadryl were also found in her system, but they did not contribute to her death.
