The Hunger Games Racks in $155 Opening Weekend!

The film will gross a historic $155 million in its opening-weekend box-office debut, its studio estimated this morning.

The Friday-Sunday take is the third-biggest in Hollywood history, blowing past the blockbuster hauls of the Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean and Twilight movies, among others.

The film opened at midnight Friday, taking in nearly $20 million from those screenings alone. By the end of its first day, it had collected $68 million, the fifth-biggest single and opening-day grosses ever. On Saturday, it collected another $51 million. Lionsgate was calling for a $36 million Sunday.

Internationally, the film was just as strong, opening No. 1 in nearly every market it played, the studio said, and grossing a combined $59.3 million.

The final tally on The Hunger Games' three-day, worldwide haul: $214.3 million.

The first sequel, Catching Fire, is already in the works, and set for a November 2013 release.

Kim Kardashian Flour Bombed!

Kim Kardashian was attending an event to support her new fragrance True Reflection when a woman broke through security and poured a bag of flour on Kim's head.

Kim, unharmed, was quickly whisked away from the powdery scene, which all took place at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. The woman who threw the flour, rumored to be an anti-fur activist, was detained by security, and the fire department and paramedics were called to the event as a precaution. After determining the substance was not dangerous and just flour, they left the hotel.

Ever the professional, Kim shook off the excess, dusted her shoulders off and headed back to the event. She told E! with a laugh, “That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me. Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that’s a whole lot of translucent powder right there.”

Reality star will press charges against her attacker. “I said earlier no I wasn’t [going to file a complaint],” Kim told E! Online. “I am just going to think about it, because I don’t want someone to think they can really get away with that. So we are going to handle that.”

TMZ reports that Kim will contact law enforcement in the next few days to tell them she wants to press charges. According to their source, Kim wants to send the message that people are entitled to their opinion but should not resort to violence to have their voices heard.

Hilary Duff Gives Birth To Baby Boy

The 24-year-old welcomed her first child with her husband Mike Comrie on Tuesday evening, she confirmed on Twitter. She says they feel like the "luckiest parents in the world." 


"Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie!" Duff tweeted, noting that he arrived "healthy" and "beautiful," weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

"We are overjoyed...He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well."

Whitney Houston Cause of Death Revealed

The L.A. County Coroner has determined Whitney Houston‘s cause of death. According to TMZ, the official cause of death is listed as accidental drowning, although other factors are listed as contributing factors.

The report states that heart disease and cocaine use also played a part in her death.  

Whitney was discovered in the bathroom of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton last month, where investigators also found prescription pills. 

Traces of marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril and Benadryl were also found in her system, but they did not contribute to her death.

Rob Kardashian who turned 25 yesterday on St. Patty's Day celebrated in Sin City with his mom, sister Kim and young sisters Kendall and Kylie.

The Hunger Games Will Not Be As Big As Harry Potter...5 Reasons Why...

1. Family-Friendly Fantasy vs. Dystopian Mayhem: This is a big one. The first Potter film was a bring-the-kids-and-uncles, PG-rated crowd-pleaser. The Hunger Games is a PG-13 tale of teen-vs.-teen slaughter that was seven seconds away from a stiff movie rating in the United Kingdom. All in all, don't expect a lot of minivan sightings at opening-weekend Hunger Games theaters. 

2. Source Material: Author Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games book trilogy has reportedly sold 26 million copies—a phenomenal number. The Potter films were spawned from the J.K. Rowling series that sold 15 times that many volumes.

3. High Bar: The first Potter set an opening-weekend mark with a then-record $90 million Friday-Sunday debut. While The Hunger Games is expected to clear that number, and maybe with room to spare, it's not expected to set a new opening-weekend record (although, for what it's worth, it could do just that in the boy wizard's own U.K. home.)

4. Higher Bar: If 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone had sold tickets at 2011 prices ($7.93 instead of yesteryear's $5.65), then, assuming attendance remained the same, the movie would have posted a $126 million debut. That kind of performance is on the upper edge of expectations for The Hunger Games.

5. International Flava: Sorcerer's Stone played to its base, stocking its cast with U.K. stalwarts such as Richard Harris and Alan Rickman. The Hunger Games has Aussie Liam Hemsworth, but largely filled out its character roles with Americans (Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, etc.). The suggestion here is not that Sorcerer's Stone cleaned up because of Maggie Smith; the suggestion here is that names like Smith's domatter to overseas audiences, and that the Jennifer Lawrence-led Hunger Games may leave some money on the table because it stayed true to its U.S. roots—and didn't try to sell the old sci-fi movie trope that we'll all sound vaguely British in the near future.

The Bottom Line: There's only one Harry Potter. There's only one Twilight, for that matter. And there's only one Hunger Games. Comparisons are inexact and unfair. The Hunger Games will heretofore not be judged against anything—until, that is, it opens next weekend.

George Clooney Arrested!

A day after meeting with President Obama privately in the Oval Office to relate his firsthand account of the dire humanitarian crisis going on in South Sudan, the Hollywod actor took his activism to a whole 'nother level by getting arrested this morning outside the Sudanese embassy. 


"We're here to ask two very important questions," Clooney told a throng of reporters. "We need immedate humanitarian aid into Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world and...the second thing we ask is for the government in Khartoum to stop killing their own citizens...stop raping them and stop killing them."

U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Max Milien confirmed, saying Clooney was taken into custody for "disorderly crossing of a police line."

He was transported to the 2nd district of the Washington, D.C. police department and will be booked on a misdemeanor. No word if bail has been set or when he'll be getting out.

Arrested along with Clooney were his father, journalist Nick Clooney, as well as Martin Luther King III, NAACP President Ben Jealous and several congressmen.

Russell Brand Arrested!

The funnyman turned himself in to New Orleans police this afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest for the office window he smashed with a paparzzo's cell phone.

Brand has been booked on one count of simple criminal damage to property and is currently in custody, though we imagine Katy Perry's ex won't be locked up for long.

E! News has reached out to Morris' reps, as well as the site CelebSlam, which first published the images. So far, no one is talking.

"I kind of thought it might happen," she told Extra about that leak. "I understand completely where it came from. For me, I think they are beautiful. It's not something I'm ashamed of. Everybody should do tasteful beautiful nudes, so when you get older you're gonna be like, 'Oh, that's when my body looked so great!' "

KONY 2012  is a half-hour documentary, backed by Invisible Children, that's tapping into the power of viral media to reach a global audience. It's based on Joseph Kony - a warlord in Uganda responsible for the enslavement of more than 30,000 children.

Over a period of nearly 30 years, the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army has abducted children and forced the boys to kill their parents and turned the girls into sex slaves.

The aim of KONY 2012 is to make the man famous, "not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice".

Film-maker Jason Russell says Kony is the "most wanted man in the world according to the ICC", and his documentary aims to put the name into every household's conversation.

Since going live yesterday, tens of thousands of Australians have signed onto the cause and with millions of views worldwide, the video has certainly grabbed The Internet's collective attention.

Michael Jackson Songs Stolen In Massive Hacking Case

Two British men have been arrested in the U.K. over charges that they hacked into Sony Music's archive and illegally downloaded thousands of songs—many of them comprising Sony's prized catalog of Michael Jackson music.

James Marks, 26, and James McCormick, 25, were busted last May and are scheduled to stand trial next January.

Sony confirms the hacking, but would not disclose the number of tracks that were stolen. Reports, however, peg that number to be over 50,000, and sources indicate that Jackson's entire catalog of music may have been compromised.

That's one mighty expensive catalog: In 2010, Sony signed the biggest deal in recording history when it forked over $250 million to Michael Jackson's estate for the rights to his music.

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey Expecting Baby Number 1

Nick spilled the beans on Live With Kelly while cohosting the show. 


"She started to feel a little different, not quite herself, so she went to the store, got a pregnancy test, and it came back positive," Nick revealed. "So we're having a baby!"

He even joked, "I'm here to tell you the stage here is a very fertile place."

Christina Hendricks Gets Hacked.

It's not uncommon to hear of a photo and phone hacking story in Hollywood. Mad Men's Christina Hendricks is the newest victim. 


Hendricks' cell phone was hacked and was leaked of person photos.


E! reached out to Hendricks' rep,


"Christina's phone was in fact hacked and photos were stolen," Hendricks' rep tells E! News. "The proper authorities have been contacted in hopes of rectifying this situation."


But, not all the leaked photos are of Christina herself. "The topless image is fake and not an image of Christina," said the rep.

Other actresses who've been victims of hackers include Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Blake Lively, Scarlett Johansson, among many others. 

First Pregnant Now Engaged!

Not even a month ago, Snooki from MTV's Jersey Shore announced she was pregnant, is now engaged!

A source confirms that the 24-year-old reality star and her boyfriend (and father of her unborn child), Jionni LaValle, are engaged.

Reps for Snooki and MTV are not commenting. The engagement was first reported by People.

No word on how he popped the question, but it's not like Snooki has been secretive about wanting to get hitched.
